This was a utility we created for another Intranet site within this same company. The prime purpose of this utility was to provide a streamlined process from order entry through to production for the relevant configurable product families. (A configurable product is one which can have an almost infinite number of build options, and these are catered for during the product assembly process).

The key benefits afforded by this utility versus the previous Excel spreadsheet methods were ... Centralised point of maintenance; Vastly improved user-interface; Easy distribution of required information via auto-email; Advanced cost-model information; Significant process time reductions (hence cost reductions).

This password-protected web-based system utlised a number of Access databases (one per product family, plus a centralised parts list) plus an Oracle database, and was coded using HTML, JavaScript and ASP. Since this is an intranet site then it is not possible to provide a link to it. What we can do is link to Honeywell's Interactive Catalog, a feature to which this site's webmaster has also contributed.
